In December 1993 the Institute organised a conference on the Vitality of Britain, with some 60 participants, two-third if them from Britain. The conference was organised in the context of the 'Vitality of Nations' project, which is a multidisciplinary, multinational and long-term research project of the Institute; some 15 conferences have been organised so far in this context, either on specific countries or on various aspects of the rise and decline of nations.
