Culture has become an important topic of psychological research, as expressed in a rapid increase in the number of articles published on cross-cultural comparisons. In this enormous collection of cross-cultural data it is difficult to perceive patterns. In this book, findings from fifty years of culture-comparative studies were integrated in order to lay a foundation for a more comprehensive understanding of the patterning of cross-cultural similarities and differences. This was pursued through several meta-analyses.

Dianne van Hemert (1970) studied psychological at Utrecht University and she conducted her PhD research at Tilburg University. The present book results from her PhD project.
